Lin Shih-Pao: From Recycling to the Peace Bell
Taiwanese-American artist Lin Shih-Pao spent years recycling everyday objects to create humanitarian art. His Peace Bell Project transforms missile debris and recycled materials into symbols of love, peace, and hope, with the first bell to be built in Taiwan and later installed in Ukraine’s Peace Art Park.
Peace Bell Project Featured at Taiwan Medical Mission Flag Ceremony at TECO, New York
At TECO New York, the Peace Bell Project was presented alongside the Taiwan Medical Mission’s send-off to Ukraine. Artist Lin Shih-Pao showcased a Peace Bell model, gaining support from Ukrainian-American officials, symbolizing unity, humanitarian aid, and Taiwan’s “Taiwan Can Help” spirit.
Second Recycling Truck Donated to Marhanets City
In 2024 and 2025, artist Lin Shih-Pao and the Shield Art Foundation donated two heavy-duty recycling trucks, valued at $100,000, to Marhanets City (Марганець) in Ukraine. The initiative was inspired by Lin’s 2023 visit, when Mayor Hennadiy Borovyk highlighted the urgent need for equipment to remove heavy metals and debris during reconstruction. This donation represents Taiwan’s commitment to humanitarian aid and solidarity with smaller Ukrainian cities often overlooked by international support.
Lin Shih-Pao: Ancient Culture in Modern Dress Zodiac Art Exhibit at the World Trade Center Oculus
Taiwanese-American artist Lin Shih-Pao presented Ancient Culture in Modern Dress: Zodiac Art Exhibit at the World Trade Center Oculus (Sept. 24 – Oct. 7, 2024). The Oculus, a key NYC transportation hub with 200,000–300,000 daily visitors, showcased twelve zodiac sculptures made from 33,000 recycled MTA MetroCards collected over 20 years. Curated by Wei-Hsuan Chen (Kiki), the exhibition highlights Lin’s four decades of art around love, peace, and hope.
